Clean up

  • Duplicate detection with confidence scoring — identical files and near‑duplicates, nothing removed without your review.
  • Library Health dashboard — missing artwork, missing lyrics, broken files, orphaned cache, with one‑click repairs where it's safe to.
  • Batch metadata editing with previews, automatic backups, and undo — edit 500 tracks with the same confidence as editing one.
  • Online lookup (MusicBrainz, Cover Art Archive, lrclib) for metadata, artwork, and lyrics — entirely opt‑in.

Play

  • Gapless playback where the format supports it, ReplayGain, output‑device selection.
  • Manual playlists and rule‑based smart playlists (AND/OR/NOT conditions, nested groups).
  • M3U/M3U8 import and export.
  • Synced lyrics during playback, local listening history, macOS Now Playing / media‑key integration.

Does MusicVault move or change my music files?+
Only if you tell it to. Linking a folder reads your files where they already are and never moves them. Editing metadata writes tags into your files (with an automatic backup and undo — nothing is a one‑way trip). Copying into the MusicVault‑managed library duplicates files into a folder you choose; your originals are untouched.
Does MusicVault upload my music library anywhere?+
No. Library content — track names, file paths, playlists, listening history — is never transmitted, under any setting.
What online lookups does it do, and can I turn them off?+
Metadata/artwork/lyrics lookup (MusicBrainz, Cover Art Archive, lrclib) is opt‑in and off by default. When it's on, only the minimal identifying info needed for a lookup (title/artist/duration, not your file paths) is sent to those specific providers — nothing else.
How does syncing to my phone work?+
Connect over USB or pair over Wi‑Fi with the Soundora app. MusicVault always shows you a plan — what will be added, replaced, skipped, or in conflict — before anything transfers. Nothing syncs automatically in the background.
What audio formats are supported?+
MP3, AAC/ALAC (M4A/MP4), FLAC, WAV, AIFF, and Ogg Vorbis for reading and tagging.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes — 30 days, no account or credit card required to start.
Does it work with Linux?+
Not currently — MusicVault Desktop supports macOS, with Windows in development.
